TEASERS
As the sun hung low over the horizon the life-giving sphere softened to a golden red while the western sea captured and reflected every color of the sky creating a trail of glittering gold from the horizon to the shore like a dragon’s tongue.

Near the fortress of Alclud, still covered in the blood and gore of battle, Dyfynwal and Clete shed their armor and bathed in the chilling waters of the River Clyde. The elite patrol that followed did the same a respectable distance downriver from their king and queen.
~~~
Standing on the high stern, Dyfynwal Hen gripped the rail to steady himself against the choppy sea as the ship plowed through the water toward Tir Hardd. His fleet followed in a loose battle formation. Dyfynwal watched Clete standing on the bow riding the vessel like a wild horse, squealing, and cursing each time the bow dipped and cut through a wave. Dyfynwal studied her form and thought himself blessed to have found and wed the most fearless and beautiful creature he had ever known.
Princess Eira was heir to her father’s Silurian throne, and cousin to the former queen. Cyngen was impressed with Eira’s knowledge of game animals and their behavior, and equally impressed by her strength and endurance. Cyngen had first met Eira when she was but a child and thought her impetuous and gangly. Since, she had grown into a lethal warrior and stunning beauty. Eira walked with a confidence born of courage, a quiet certainty radiating from her. She possessed long shining black hair, a wild cascade of waves that framed her strong yet delicate face and piercing green eyes. Cyngen had difficulty keeping his eyes to himself when she was within his sight.
Dyfynwal and Clete held back no reserves and led their entire army of heavy horse hurtling across the valley, hooves pounding the earth in a deadly rhythm. The marching army followed at full run with spears and swords at the ready, shields slung across their backs.
~~~
The roar of darkness surrounded them howling as fierce as any storm while the sound of battle slowly rose in the distance, growing louder with each passing moment. They turned toward the sound and saw a large space between the stones alight with a vision of war.
The warriors carried his father’s banner, a red Tanwen passant on a white and green field. The likeness of the Tanwen was a symbol of savage bravery while the white was for purity, and the green for the alliance with King Brutus Greenshield of Loegria. The same banner would be the flag of Cambria for thousands of years though the dragon and colors would later come to represent strength, independence, fertile valleys, and peace over the land.

A band of retreating enemy warriors ran straight for where Cyngen stood. He quickly strung his bow and let fly his arrows with deadly accuracy killing six before the last two foe reached him. He threw his spear and drew his sword in one fluid motion. Only one foe remained. Cyngen crouched to avoid the blow from the axe wielding enemy, bent to the side escaping the return swipe, turned and hacked at the brigand’s legs. The enemy warrior fell hard, and Cyngen flicked his blade lightly and stepped back. The foe clutched at his throat, unable to stop the crimson spray shooting from his neck. Cyngen whirled around to face the sound of pounding hooves, sword ready and shield up.

“I often think of our promise of secrecy and wonder if we should tell all we know. The knowledge plagues me at times,” Dyfynwal confessed.
Leil looked deep into Dyfynwal’s eyes. A flash of flame passed behind those eyes, and he said, “You have my oath. I will tell your son the secret upon your passing.”
